How to get to the university Hannover?

Most of the activities will take place in the main building of the university (Welfengarten 1).  Sessions of the Fachverband Didaktik will take place in the Verfügungsgebäude (Schneiderberg 50) and the Kalihörsaal (Historic building Chemistry, Callinstraße 9).

Ticket for Local Public Transport

All participants will receive a ticket for local public transport with their registration documents.

The ticket entitles the holder to travel on all means of transport of the GVH partners - with the relevant railway companies in 2nd class - within the entire tariff area (Zone ABC) as a "KombiTicket" all day long (until the end of operation) in the period from 05.-10.03.2023.

Arrival by Car

From the west and east:
Arrival by car is via the A2 motorway. Take the exit "Herrenhausen/Zentrum" onto the B6 (Westschnellweg). After approx. 8 km, turn left at the traffic lights onto Bremer Damm towards the city centre and the university. After about 2 km, this motorway ends at Königsworther Platz. In front of you, you will see the Continental high-rise building of the university location Königsworther Platz diagonally to the right. To reach the main building of the university and the other locations, turn sharp left into Nienburger Straße (towards Herrenhäuser Gärten). After about 300 m you will see the Welfenschloss (main building) on your right with a few parking spaces. If you continue along the road, you will come to the university locations Schneiderberg, Herrenhausen and Berggarten and the refectory.

From the south:
If you are coming via the A7, take the "Hannover-Süd" exit towards the Messe on the B6 (Messeschnellweg). As soon as you have passed the exhibition centre, turn onto the B65 (Südschnellweg) towards the city centre (Zentrum). Leave the expressway at the "Zentrum" exit and turn right at the traffic lights onto Hildesheimer Straße. Hildesheimer Straße ends at the City-Ring, onto which you turn left towards "Universität / Herrenhäuser Gärten". You will be guided via Aegidientorplatz, Friedrichswall, Leibnizufer, Brühlstraße to Königsworther Platz. On your right you will now see the Continental high-rise building of the university location Königsworther Platz. To reach the main building of the university and the other locations, drive straight ahead across Königsworther Platz into Nienburger Straße (towards Herrenhäuser Gärten). After about 300 m you will see the Welfenschloss (main building) on your right with a few parking spaces. If you continue along the road, you will come to the university sites Schneiderberg, Herrenhausen and Berggarten and the refectory.

From the north:
If you are coming via the A7, leave the A7 at the Hannover-Nord junction in the direction of Hannover-Nord/Dortmund (A352). Follow the A352 to the A2. Take the exit "Herrnhausen/Zentrum" onto the B6 (Westschnellweg). Continue as if coming from the west or east.

Arrival by Train

Both fast and regional trains stop at Hannover main railway station.

From the main railway station, walk approx. 400 m through the city centre to the "Kröpcke" station, or travel one stop on tram line 1 (direction Laatzen), 2 (Rethen), 3 (Wettbergen) or 7 (Wettbergen).

From the "Kröpcke" station you can reach the university in about 5 minutes. Take the tram line 4 in the direction of Garbsen or 5 in the direction of Stöcken.

It is 3 stops to the destination "Leibniz Universität". You will see the Welfenschloss (main building) in front of you. You can also reach the Continental high-rise building in the university area Königsworther Platz by taking tram line 4 or 5 (2 stops) via the stop "Königsworther Platz", and the university area Schneiderberg via the stop "Schneiderberg" (4 stops).

Arrival by Plane

From the Hannover airport, take the S-Bahn 5 to the main station. From there, continue as described under "Arrival by train".
